What stays on your device
Your lair, dragons, story progress and the books you log are saved in your browser (local storage). You can play the first taste without giving us anything.
What we store on our server
- Saving your lair: to keep playing past the free taste, you save your lair with an email. We store that email, a hashed restore code, and a copy of your game save (lair name, dragons, progress, and the titles and genres of books you log), so you can load it on another device.
- Rider Report signup: saving your lair, or using a signup form, adds your email to the Rider Report list, along with the date, where you signed up, your lair name if you gave one, and whether you ticked the optional book-marketing box.
- A short-lived, hashed network fingerprint used only to rate-limit abuse. It expires within hours.
The newsletter
The Rider Report will be managed through beehiiv, an email newsletter service (coming soon). When we move the list there, the email addresses of active subscribers (and whether each ticked the book-marketing box) will be shared with beehiiv so they can deliver it. No issues have been sent yet.
The optional book-marketing box
It is never ticked for you, and you can keep playing without ticking it. If you tick it, we may use your email and the reading genres you share with us to send book recommendations and offers from books and partners we think you'd like (including affiliate links that may earn us a small commission). We never sell your email.
Who we share with
Cloudflare, which hosts the site and its database, and beehiiv once the newsletter moves there. No one else.
Unsubscribe
You can unsubscribe at any time with the form below. It stops all Rider Report and book-marketing emails to that address. Your lair save keeps working.
